Hunting slugs

One morning, Grandpa and I went out slug hunting in his garden. He was wearing great big green gloves. He would catch them, pick them up, and then put them in a bucket. On this particular morning, a slug got very interested in his sock. it climbed up his sock, inside his trouser leg, all the way to his shin. I could see gooey stuff all over his trouser leg, making a black line. At first, Grandpa did not realize he had a passenger. So I said, "Grandpa, I don't know if you know, but there's a gooey black line on your pants." He said, "Oh my gosh!" and he reached down with his big gloves to pull it out, but it was stuck fast to his leg. So, he had to shake his leg really hard and the slug went flying into the grass. After some searching, Grandpa caught the mountaineering slug and put it in the bucket with its fellows. - Meg Wyman
